About

Meghan Magri is a 28 year old

New England based artist.

Growing up she received all her formal

art training in Vermont.

Meghan graduated from the Academy of Visual and Performing Arts, Essex High School. During that time she attended

The Governor Institute on the Arts.

She then earned a BFA in Illustration and Animation at Northern Vermont University.

Post college she spent 4 years apprenticing and working as a goldsmith in Rhode Island.

She now resides in Mid-Coast Maine continuing to create art with a focus on mixed media and colored pencil.

I'm a surrealist specializing in mixed media and colored pencil art. My work uses humor to explore the subconscious, the skewed psyche, the struggle of understanding the human condition, and how your own perspective can often distort the way you experience reality.

I LOVE DRAWING—I enjoy using a lot of bright colors and funky textures to pull together the wide range of thoughts and emotions I tend to pack into my pieces. I would describe my work style as meditative with a focus on self discovery. A lot of my pieces are born out of my subconscious and I never really understand the purpose or meaning behind a piece until I'm finished with it. This self reflective process is my absolute favorite part of creating art and the only reason I feel so compelled to draw.

I hope people find my work to be introspective and humorous. I love connecting with people through my art, and it is so rewarding to hear the many different interpretations of my work and how it connects with people.
